There is not a national centralized venison donation program. While there are some multi-state venison donation programs most are organized and managed by individual states. A coalition of hunters, food banks, other charities, deer processors, conservationists, and Departments of Natural Resources typically form the programs. Management, funding, and procedures vary as determined by these groups within each state. Having local control rather than a centralized national management is important to the support of group members.
